The Piggyfriends' grass is frozen!

Slave cuts fresh grass for us every day but this morning she came back in and said that it had frozen!

"She offered us these cauliflower leaves instead. Much as we love a cauli leaf it is not the same as a pile of fresh grass but I suppose it will have to do" says Saoirse Piggyfriend in between mouthfuls.

Carter grabs a piece of leaf and rushes to eat it in the privacy of a box before his friends can steal it. "I love cauli," says Carter, " and I am so glad that our friend, Roly, grows lots of it on his farm."

"Well, I suppose there is nothing for it but to join my friends, " says Aoife, " before they have cleared up the lot."

"Don't worry piggies, " says Slave. " I have a whole bagful of leaves for you and maybe the grass will have thawed tomorrow."

    1. That is even worse. Unfair for piggies! We would like organise a protest march but it is too cold for our little paws out there.

The Piggyville girls say that our slave had to shovel 5 inches of snow off the grass then heat it up with her hairdryer before giving it to us. Thankfully it does not snow often in Swannanoa North Carolina.

I agree with Mikey --- those Piggyfriends should count their blessings! Their grass is probably thawed by now and ready for Piggyfriend snacks, while it will be months before the Prairie Pigs get any fresh grass.

(Though the Prairie Pigs slave recently discovered she could buy little pots of wheatgrass in the produce section at the local grocery store. There is hardly more than enough for a mouthful for each pig, but it's a little taste of spring in the middle of winter.)
